From September 25-28, 2017, the Data and Analytics Section of UNICEF HQ, in collaboration with the Washington Group on Disability Statistics (WG) conducted a workshop on the measurement of child disability, which took place in New York. Enabling Social Impact Consulting Group received an invitation to attend this Workshop.
With UNICEF HQ assistance, Armenian professionals had the opportunity to discuss the conceptual and theoretical issues related to measuring disability in children and reviews methods and tools that have previously been used to collect data in this area.
Our team member Sofi Baroyan had participated. The workshop brought together experts and practitioners with a particular interest or responsibility to address child disability related issues, The primary goal of the workshop was to discuss the best approaches for measurement of child disability.
The Armenian participants gained knowledge of main issues related to the collection, analysis, interpretation, and use of data on child disability.
At the end of the workshop, all participants received a certificates.

The outcome of the workshop for our team was new network with like-minded peers; understanding of concepts, models, and measures of child disability; increased knowledge of main issues related to the collection, analysis, interpretation, and use of data on child disability.
Importance of good quality data on children with disabilities is the priority area for ESI Consulting Group. We will continue to support of counterparts to deepen their knowledge of how to read and interpret data on children with disabilities; understand how to disseminate and use data effectively to promote the rights of children with disabilities; develop a comprehensive data collection plan, with clear objectives, indicators, and appropriate data collection
methods and tools.
